Safety Ratings Breakdown
When selecting a family vehicle, style and space are secondary to survivability. We rigorously examine data from top safety organizations to ensure the vehicles we recommend provide paramount protection for your most precious cargo.
Child Seat Compatibility Tests
Not all second rows are created equal. The ability to properly install a child seat using LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) or ISOFIX systems without excessive force is crucial. We evaluate:
- Accessibility of lower anchors (are they buried deep in the seat cushion?).
- Ease of accessing top tether hardware behind the seat.
- Width of the second row to accommodate three child seats side-by-side.
The highest award from IIHS, requiring excellent ratings in all crashworthiness tests and superior active safety systems.
Active Safety Systems (ADAS)
Avoiding a crash is better than surviving one. Essential systems for family cars now include Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control to reduce driver fatigue on long journeys.
| Feature | Standard vs Optional | Our Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Emergency Braking | Mostly Standard | Mandatory |
| Blind Spot Monitoring | Mixed | Highly Recommended |
